A great way to start our weekend, catching a few White Seabass and Yellowtail. The weather ended up being pretty nice and the Yellows and Seabass bit for those willing to wake up early and get on the fishing grounds first. We lost a few fish to tangles or the hook simply pulling out, but overall it was a pretty good hook to land ratio. This is only the beginning though. We have been picking away at the Yellows and Seabass all week, waiting for the bite to go “full speed”. So far we have not seen that, but hopefully it will continue to bite even better. We have trips departing all weekend going for these game fish and a variety of other species. Still some open spots for this weekend but if you can come out during the week days you will find a lot more availability on your favorite boat. Just give us a call or you can go online and book yourself a ticket anytime!

Good bottom fishing for our boats today in very nice weather conditions. A nice way to end another productive weekend of catching. We have trips online running every day this week so if you can get away its time to go fishing. The water is still cold and hovering around 55 degrees but there are signs of game fish. Word has it, there are some Seabass out there on the chew. It’s been a while since the Channel Islands have seen a good White Seabass, so this is great news if they start biting ahead of schedule. If you’re coming out with us anytime soon, be ready for anything!

Congratulations goes out this morning to Jake Klinshaw on his first day as Captain running the Speed Twin Sportfishing out of Channel Islands Sportfishing.

I was introduced to Jake and his dad, Fred earlier this week by Willy Morris of Salty Crew. Fred is a champion bass anglers and having lunch together at the Bluewater, sitting across from them, the pride and mutual respect this father and son have for one another made me realize what a life changing sport we all share. Way to go dad for giving your kids a gift they will enjoy for a lifetime and to you Jake for following your passion and carving out a way to make a living doing what you love to do. Michael Fowlkes
